Easts were denied a grand final berth after being soundly defeated by reigning Reserves champions Harps in the 2002 Qld League Semi-Final.
The Celts got off to a dire start, conceding a goal in the first minute of the game. Unfortunately, this was the first of several as Harps created metres of space in their forward line and took their chances with accurate strikes. An excellent Easts goal from Ronan Harper slowed the tide momentarily, but half time could not arrive quickly enough for the Celts and Harps had jumped out to a 5 goal lead.
Easts began the second half with resolve, and took the game up to Harps, creating scoring chances with a long range point from Dov Hirst the standout. The midfield linked well, and the defence produced some committed scoring saves. Although the outcome of the game was already beyond doubt, Easts Celts Reserves contested to the end and can take some lessons and positives out of the game into 2003.
Scorers: Ronan Harper 1-0, Dov Hirst 0-1, James O'Connell 0-1

Easts Celts moved two games clear at the top of the Reserves Ladder by defeating second placed Harps in Round 14 of the Qld League.
Easts started strongly and opened the scoring after a good cross from Chris Woods was punched into the Harps goal by James Forbes. Scoring for both sides was minimal thereafter as defense dominated the remainder of the half and Easts took a 1 point lead into halftime.
The sides traded points in the second half before Easts stretched their lead when James scored his second goal. This sparked some excellent passages of play for Easts highlighted by an inspired solo run from Gus. Chris then scored two quick points to secure the win in what was a good even team performance by the Celts.
Scorers: James Forbes 2-0, Chris Woods 0-3, Ronan Harper 0-2, Mark Morris 0-1
