Easts continued their great record against Sarsfields beating them by 35 points at the final whistle. Undermanned by 2 players against a full Sarsfield team - everyone put in a fantastic effort to play (and look) like a true team again. Thank-you to Woody's enthusiasm prior to the game to get everyone excited about playing!
Many players did great things, however special mention goes to Maxine and Reigen up forward who constantly placed themselves in prominent positions to recieve the ball. High individual scores to Ona and Nicole (thanks to some great passes from the midfield), and another special mention for Bob who played probably her best match yet up forward. Nice to see such young enthusiasm!
Great to be back in the winner's circle girls and lets improve for our last run to the final wire! We are peaking at JUST the right moment. People commented to me after the match that we looked better than we have all season and used each other effectively.
Hold your head up girls! Go Easts!

Shamrocks showed the importance of taking point scores today, convincingly outscoring Easts with top shooting. Easts felt the pinch when their new full-forward Anna went down with a nasty knee injury after scoring a top goal. We hope you get better soon Anna!
Congratulations to Renae who played a great game in a new position at Full Back. She rang rings around her opponent. Keep up the good work.

After a close affair the week earlier against Harps, Easts went into the game against the number 2 team with high spirits, firing from the start to be up by 4 points at the change. The first half proved to be one of the best first halves of football Easts have played and a congratulations to the committed efforts by everyone in getting the 'first half monkey' off our backs. See, we CAN play terrific right from the first whistle, that needs to be incorporated for the next games. Come out of the blocks FIRING.
The second half was won by John Mitchells, their main weapon being point scoring from further out. Easts went down by just 2 goals in the end which slipped through the defence. All in all Easts played one very good half of football and this looks great to add to our plan of attack for next week.

An OUTSTANDING performance by all of our girls saw a mighty close game against HARPS (top of the table), in what turned out to be the match of the round.
Easts really worked together, supported each other and had confidence in each other's ability, and the results showed with many of our plays flowing smoothly and productively. This great work needs to be kept up for the remainder of the season!
The forward line showed unity and they are finally settleing into their roles and responsiblities. Goals to Ona and Nicole along with numerous points to these as well as Maxine, Narelle & Chrissie saw us come home like a steam train and fall just 4 points short of a Surprised Harps. A few different decisions here and there and we would have been victorious! EVERYONE needs to hold their heads high and keep up with the amazing turnaround.
A special mention to Woody - she was as bright as a beetroot after the game due to her outstandingly high workrate throughout the game. Keep up the good work!
This weeks game is a SPECIAL one... Jess jets off to the US next week and it will be her finale for the season. Let's help her go out on a BIG NOTE!! GO Easts!

In almost sub-zero temperatures and cruel, stinging wind, the Blue and Yellow brigade took to the Toowoomba track with high spirits. With an impressive turn-out of eighteen players, including season debut for Veronica, we began in fine style - leading at the break by a goal.
Unfortunately we were over-run by South's point scoring in the second half, however Easts have continued to play at a high standard and the score really doesn't do us justice - as both sides know that the game was quite well-fought and everyone played very well considering the elements. I vote for Toowoomba being played EARLIER next year?? Hmm?
Special mentions for "Bob" - she is always getting herself into great position to recieve a quick handball or kick, I'm glad to be playing alongside her in the forward line - and congrats on your 'goal' (don't worry, we saw it!). Jess, Narelle and Maxine had great games too - and Lis took some great diving saves to continue expanding on her goalie great-ness. Good work.
Great to see most people out and about after the games too! I had some interesting conversations with most of you.... And stay tuned for THOSE pics to make their way onto this site....
Have a great game against Sarsfields. Enjoy it, and let's keep this great team spirit flying high. It's what will make or break us for the rest of the season.

Well we really tried our butts off this week against Shamrocks - and look at the result! In a high scoring, highly competitive game we gave Shamrocks a real run for their money! I bet they didn't know what had hit them! Hats off to EVERYONE from easts, pat yourselves on the back!
Few things i noticed in particular. Forwards made a definate difference getting back in defence when the goalie was kicking out. This needs to keep up as we were rewarded with many turnovers and subsequent shots at goal. This will be even more effective next week against Souths on the smaller ground in Toowoomba. Keep it tight girls!
Our players kept running and showed a real determination for the ball - and is something we've been lacking. each player needs to take it upon themselves that THEY will be first to the ball and the ball really DOES have their name on it (using all Narelle's favourite sayings here :). If we walk onto the field for each of our games from now on with that attitude we will notice a marked improvment in team spirit and morale!
Quick passes in the forward line are effective too, this keeps the element of surprise.
Congratulations to Lis - our new star goalkeeper who must have been getting some good tips from the world cup competition! she has always confessed her love for soccer to me and now seems to have found her haven as goalkeeper. Keep up the great work Lis!
Backs were also onsong and lets hope everyone can pull together for a wicked Toowoomba trip, and assist the guys in taking home the CUP! It's best of three. Seniors, Ladies & Reserves.
GO EASTS!!

Easts managed to improve their average this week with a score-fest against Sarsfields. It was encouraging to see our players backing themselves and going for their shots. This needs to continue in every future game. We have the talent in our team, now we need to really start 'meshing' and encouraging each other to be THEIR best. All anybody can ever ask of an athlete is to try their hardest at all times.
I really believe, that on paper, the East's Ladies Football team is as good as, if not superior to any other team in the competition. All that needs to happen now is for all players to support each other. Once we find that link there will be no holding us back!
Everybody played well this week. Hopefully the backs didn't get TOO bored back there! Yet to their credit they did a refined job in returning the ball back into attack without a score almost every time.
Great scoring up front to Ona, Chrissie, Narelle, and Jess. Hopefully we can start bombing some long ones in like we were doing last season!
Let's have a full-on crack at the game this weekend. Everybody just let their hair down (not literally) and pull out all stops. Let's really see what we can do!
Let's use this week's great win as the first building block to the rest of a FANTASTIC season! GO EASTS!!!!!

The first round of the GAA Trophy and a clash with last season's champions 'Shamrocks' provided our team with a benchmark to see how we were performing. With many of our players absent and at least three playing under injury clouds - dedicated team members! - fourteen took to the field to have a crack at one of the in form teams.
East's backs played extremely well and it was thanks to their consistent effort that Shamrocks were kept within reach at half time. Renae Whitehead proved invaluable in her come-back game from serious finger injury, dealing with the Shamrock forwards most effectively!
The second half got away from us a bit, however we now know that we weren't TOO far behind shamrocks and, with players regaining full fitness and returning from breaks, it is only onwards and upwards from here!
A special congratulations to Jo Healy - making her debut game for the season in most concisive fashion - running onto the field at the 20 min mark, receiving a pass and scoring a point! Please come again Jo!
Good point scores to Anna, Nicole, Jo & a double to Narelle.
Coaching Awards for player excellence: Ona, Jess & Renae. Well done girls!
* HOPING TO SEE ALL TEAM MEMBERS ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE FIDDLER'S ELBOW!

In tough times with many injuries and absent players, we unfortunately recieved a fair wholloping against the ever-improving John Mitchell girls. Scoring was tough with great defence from JM and Nicole scored 1 point in the first minute, then there was a fair drought until Anna put a screamer into the top right hand net. A Big Congratulations to Anna for scoring her debut "goal". Another point in the closing stages added to a small scorline.
However, a positive to take away from the game is that there were some passages of play that worked well and we can continue to develop. A fair "well done" should be said to the girls in defence! They certainly got a fair work out! A big thankyou to Seamus' umpiring, and well done to nobody getting any cards this week....
It was great to see people sticking around afterwards to celebrate the "Bank Holiday". And thankyou to all who volunteered to help out Seamus in his time of need and fill the various umpiring spots.... Which of course went was made much easier whilst having a few quiet beers!
Only On and Upwards from here girls!!

Despite constant drizzle and a sodden track, a good turn up of 16 players took to the field for the clash against the ever-prominent Harps. Whilst the East girls relished the cooler temperature and the chance to slide about and get dirty, we were well beaten by our opponents who showed good wet track form. However, congratulations to everyone who turned up despite the rain and cold! We can only improve the scoreline next week girls!!
