Our sincere sympathy from the Easts Celts GFC to the family and friends of John Ryan.
John, a former Easts player and committee member, passed away in Cairns on Sunday 28th October after a long battle with cancer. In September, John was honoured with selection in the Easts Celts 25th Anniversary Team.
The Ryan family have been involved with Easts in many varied capacities for many years. All four brothers, John, Andrew, Paul and Steve have played with Easts, Andrew and Paul were referees and Steve Ryan is still involved coaching the U15 boys. Our deepest sympathies go to the Ryan family at this sad time.
For any Celts wishing to pay their respects, John Ryan’s funeral will be at 9am this Saturday (3rd November) at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Passage St Cleveland.

Past Easts players took a trip down memory lane at the 25th Silver Anniversary Reunion Dinner on Saturday, 1st September at Willawong. The 100 guests included players, family and friends who have all contributed to Easts as a Club over the years. Seamus Sullivan, Jamie "Buddha" Byrne and Brad Small spoke of the early beginnings of Easts Celts when Seamus assembled a young group of players mostly from Iona College. Veronica Snowdon highlighted the enthusiasm and spirit of the women's team over the years. To celebrate our 25th year, a Silver Anniversary Team was selected for both our men and women's team and trophies were presented to those selected on the team. Stories of trips to Toowoomba, premiership success and the good times enjoyed by players at St Patrick's Day marches and playing for the Club were recounted by guests. Guests also enjoyed a video tribute from Ronan Harper, past Easts Captain back in Ireland and Nicole Borzatti, Easts member in London who sent their best wishes for our 25th celebration. Jeremy Thompson also sent a message of support from Perth. Past Easts Celts jerseys lined the wall and reminded us all of the different eras of the Club. After the formalities, guests enjoyed dancing into the late hours. Thanks to everyone who helped organise the night and make the night such a success!

Easts farewell club stalwart Jamie Byrne "Buddha" as he moves with his family out near Murgon.
Buddha is one of the clubs founding players and during his 25 years with the Celts he has inspired the Mens team with his onfield exploits and the Ladies team with his spirited pre-game and half time speeches. Buddha has been the Club President for many years and has been a hardworking club member during his time with Easts.
Everyone at the Celts wish you all the best and thank you for your loyalty and dedication to the club.

A good turnout at the Easts Trivia Night had teams testing their general knowledge for prestige and prizes.
Many thanks to Karen, Brendon, and Fiona for setting up the night, quizmaster Kirsten, the prize donators, Wynnum Vikings Football Club, and to all those who attended; it was a very successful event for the Celts.
